A Psalm of Lament: Fear and Faith
Scripture: Psalm 27:1–27:14
A Psalm of Lament:
Fear and Faith
1. We don’t have to be crippled by fear (vss. 1-3).
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear;what can man do to me?”- Hebrews 13:5–6(ESV)
1. The Lord will satisfy and deliver us (vss. 4-6).
2. The Lord will never abandon us (vss. 7-12).
Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”- Matthew 27:45–46(ESV)
The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs - heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. - Romans 8:16–17(ESV)
2. We can trust the Lord (vss. 13-14).
